What we do

The work we do, and a little about how we do it.

  1. Tiled roofing

Re-roofs in new clay pan tiles, like the Sandtoft Neo Plus pan tiles on a terraced house in NR2, and repairs to tiled roofs. Where a customer wants to keep their existing tiles, like one NR2 re-roof, matching reclaimed tiles are found to replace the broken and damaged ones.

  2. Slate roofing

New slate roofs, most recently in First Mix Spanish Slates, graded so they go down lovely. Always a pleasure to work with.

  3. Flat roofing

EPDM Rubberbond flat roofs, and flat roof leaks tracked down and fixed: falls adjusted, guttering added and everything sealed up nicely.

  4. Lead work

Lead valleys, flashing around chimneys and egg and dart leadwork cut to match the building. Correct width and code of lead, fixed with copper clouts, and nothing nailed into the lead.

  5. uPVC fascias, soffits and guttering

New uPVC fascias, soffits and guttering.

  6. All roof repairs, no job too small

A leak that needs looking at, tiles that have come loose, or just some helpful roofing advice.

Velux windows and insulated felt

A re-roof can include a Velux window to bring more natural light into the room below, and TLX Gold insulated felt to help keep that room warm through the winter.

Roofs put right

We see a lot of roofs that were done wrong the first time. If you've got a leak that needs looking at, or you'd just like some helpful roofing advice, get in touch.

Four photos of a lead valley: the old bodged valley, and the new lead valley with battens and felt

A lead valley, the right way round

“From how you shouldn't fit a lead valley, to how you should.”

Another valley that needed fixing after the previous roofers did pretty much everything wrong, with the battens fixed on the valley trays. It's now relaid in the correct width and code of lead, fixed with copper clouts and nothing nailed into it, with the battens fixed properly up to the valley trays, not on them, and breathable felt fixed lengthways into the valley for extra waterproofing, which was never done in the first place.

Six photos of a terraced house roof: the old mixed tiles, the new battens and membrane, and the finished clay pan tiles

A terraced house in NR2

About six different varieties of tile on one roof, and previous roofers had drilled nail holes into tiles that were never designed to be nailed. It's now re-roofed in new Sandtoft Neo Plus clay pan tiles with new leadwork, and doing a much better job of keeping the water out.

“Do your research, and always ask neighbours, family & friends etc for recommendations when it comes to using tradesmen. Word of mouth will never be beaten.”

A slate re-roof that became two

We'd been waiting a long while for a good sized slate re-roof, and this one ended up becoming two. Plenty of very long days in the summer heat, a 25mm difference in the neighbouring purlin heights to get round where the two front roofs join, and two very happy customers. Laid in fresh new First Mix Spanish Slates.

Old English clay tiles in the Flanders colour on a new double garage. Not our favourite tile, but in that colour it gives a very nice finish.

    Sandtoft Neo clay tiles

    An EPDM Rubberbond flat roof

A few details to get around on this one, but it came out looking great.

Egg and dart leadwork and a new Velux

Egg and dart leadwork cut and laid to match the building, a Velux window to bring more natural light into the room below, and TLX Gold insulated felt to keep the upstairs room warm in winter. All done in the dry, for a very happy customer.

  6. April 2025

A rear extension roof in NR1

A pitched rear extension roof in desperate need of a re-roof, sorted with new clay pan tiles and fresh lead flashing to seal it all nicely.

  7. 2024

A re-roof in NR2, keeping the old tiles

The customer wanted to re-use the existing tiles, so it was a matter of finding matching reclaimed tiles for all the incorrect, broken and damaged ones. Happy customers, and no more leaks.

Worth waiting for

I had Jacob refelt and batten my front roof and box room on my terraced house. I also had him put lead flashing on to replace some very cracked leaky concrete on a broken parapet wall, and replace a flat roof downstairs. Before Jacob's help, bodge after bodge had been done on the roofs, and water was coming in! He turns roofing into an art. The before and after photos he sent me speak for themselves. Jacob is also so communicative and polite and clearly takes pride in his trade. Fair prices for top quality service, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend JC Roofing to anyone. He's a busy guy and no wonder as he is great at what he does! He was very helpful with all questions I had, as someone who knows next to nothing about roofing and quotes were transparent and well itemised. He is honest and reliable. He also sorted a couple of smaller issues for me at no extra charge whilst he was here, which I really appreciate. Thank you Jacob. I have attached before and after images to this review to show off his quality work!

I have no hesitation in recommending this young man. He was repairing a leaking garage roof before I moved in and his communication was exceptional. He sent me photos at the end of every workday and his work was first class he tidied up beautifully at the end. And his prices were very reasonable.

Jacob was brilliant! Initially a recommendation from a friend. He explained what work needed doing, taking videos and photos when quoting for the job as well as adjusting some tiles that had become dislodged without charge. Most of the flashing needed replacing on our roof and around the chimney, he did a fantastic job and kept us updated with progress (with photos too!). He was honest with what work did and didn't need doing. Reasonable pricing and transparent about costs. Highly recommend! Thanks for your great work Jacob
